How to Prepare Artwork for a Custom Printed Flag

Updated 2026-09-02 · FlagsRental.ca Editorial Team

A good print file is only part of the brief. Finished size, viewing direction, fabric, construction and approval responsibility all influence the result.

Supply the best artwork

Vector artwork is preferred for logos and flat graphics because it scales cleanly. Include linked or outlined fonts and avoid relying on a small image copied from a website.

Specify colour and orientation

Provide brand colour references and explain whether the reverse may read as a mirror image. Double-sided construction, if required, changes weight and production.

Approve the complete proof

Check spelling, proportions, safe areas, finishing, orientation and quantity—not only the logo. Name one person who can provide final written approval.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Can a quote start without final artwork?

Yes. Approximate size, quantity and intended use can begin the discussion, but production waits for suitable artwork and approval.

Which file format is best?

Editable vector formats such as AI, EPS or print-ready PDF are commonly preferred, subject to the printer’s requirements.
